Thesis Students
Mary Lyons
Mary is completing her honours thesis in the lab over the 2023/2024 academic year. Her thesis explores discrimination against aging inmates and how to protect the rights of those who age in prison. Mary also completed an independent study in the lab (2023) exploring how adults can detect children's lies through their facial expressions. Mary enjoys spending time outdoors with her three children. In the summer, you can often find them at Fundy park and in the winter at the ski hill. She also volunteers as a Big Sister for Big Brother Big Sisters of Moncton, and is a Volunteer Facilitator at Canadian Families Corrections Network and Corrections Canada. Mary hopes to work in the legal field after graduation from Mount A. |
Julia Stubbert
Julia is completing her honours thesis in the lab over the 2023/2024 academic year. Her thesis explores the role of lying in romantic relationships. Julia grew up in Sackville and enjoys playing guitar, watching the sunset, fishing, walking in the waterfowl park, and going for drives. Julia has always had a passion for psychology and helping people and she hopes to pursue a masters in counselling after graduation. Specifically, she would like to help young adults learn the skills to have healthy and fulfilling relationships. |
Independent Study Students
2023/2024
Devin LaPointe
Devin will be completing an independent study project in the lab in the 2024 winter term. He will be exploring young adults' mental health concerns and the moral acceptability of concealing such concerns from others. He is also an RA in the lab assisting with community outreach projects. Devin is a mature first-generation student who wants to bring positive change in the lives of others. Outside of the lab, he enjoys hiking, reading, billiards and ping pong, as well as spending time with family and friends. In his words, "I may be slightly addicted to Minecraft, but who can say?" Devin hopes to become a clinical psychologist following his degree at Mount A. |
Mintra Taylor
Mintra is completing an independent study project in the lab in the 2023 Fall term. She is reviewing literature on older adult abuse victims to better understand what is known and unknown about this important topic to spur a new line of research in the Lifespan Lab. Mintra grew up on the east coast of Canada but is originally from Thailand, where she has been travelling this summer. When she is not studying, you can find her in MtA's fitness centre, either in the gym or working behind the desk. |
